The Bible
When I first walked into New Frontiers church on a Sunday morning there were two things that left a lasting impression on me. First was the community I experienced, not only the friendliness on the day, but also being invited into the New Frontiers community outside of a Sunday morning. The second, was how instrumental Scripture was, not only in the sermon but in how the whole service was run. Prior to New Frontiers, I had never experienced a church which embraced the gift of the Spirit and expected Him to play such an active role in the Sunday service. However, I was able to feel completely at peace with this new experience because it was evident how the church was working to align with Scripture in how the gifts of the Spirit were to be applied in a Sunday gathering. This was New Frontiers living out the value of the Bible, applying its teachings, and being transformed by the Word.
A Richly Diverse Family
Do you tend to seek out Christian friendship primarily with those who agree with most of your cultural values and preferences in life? Do you tend not to reach out to those who come from a different culture or race who are Christians because you don’t feel you would have anything in common with them? If so, it is very possible you are missing out on some important aspects of God’s design for bringing you into spiritual maturity. The Bible presents us with a picture of God’s family, the Church, as a community of people with diverse backgrounds and cultures, where at times the only common focus they have is their relationship to Jesus Christ.
